This antibody is specific to an 85 kDa protein known as XRCC1. X-ray repair cross complementing 1 (XRCC1) protein plays a role in excision repair of DNA after ionizing irradiation. XRCC1 binds to DNA ligase III through the Cterminal 96 amino acids and to DNA polymerase β through the N-terminal half. In testis XRCC1 is expressed at high levels.
