Worldwide, bladder cancer is diagnosed in approximately 275,000 people each year, and about 108,000 die of this disease. In industrialized countries, including China, 90% of bladder cancer are transitional cell carcinoma. In developing countries, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, the majority of bladder cancers are squamous cell carcinoma, and most of them are secondary to Schistosoma haematobium infection. Immunohistochemistry plays a very important role in diagnosing, differentiating from mimics of other organ origin, and making decision in medical management.
